The eSportsmen (BBC Radio 4)

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Just finished listening to The eSportsmen on BBC Radio 4 and it’s great to see professional gaming in more main stream media. Split into two parts, Kate Russell meets and talks to Team Dignitas. (In my opinion, Dignitas is the best pro gaming team in UK)

(Team Dignitas TF2 at iseries finals)

The discussions themselves were very interesting for me, because I’m a heavy gamer and spend most of my free time gaming. One part which talks about how from a parents side it looks like players are just sitting in their room playing games all day long (like what all ours parents think we do) and how they start to understand that professional gaming is very social and a real career. Of course no one is denying that earning a living from playing games is almost impossible and require a ridiculous amount of effect just to stay at the top of your game.

I’m definitely looking forward to the final part next friday (11th June 2010). If you haven’t seen the first part you can see it at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00sk6py/The_eSportsmen_Episode_1/
